After reading Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare we had many small projects based off of what we learned from reading it but the biggest project was the trial. There were eight attorneys each in groups of two, making four groups total, we had specific characters as both accused characters and witnesses. We had five jurors and the teachers were the two judges.
I was defending Romeo and prosecuting Friar Lawrence with my partner Carlos, we had about a week to write up our case and then two days for the trial. We presented our case second after Romeo's prosecutors went up to the stand and called him insane which helped our case drastically because we were pleading insanity for Romeo. After we defended him and called up our witnesses we prosecuted Friar Lawrence and his defense attorneys came to the stand.
The next day, we had a rebuttal where we reminded the jurors of everything said and about fifteen minutes later we came back in the class and we were told that we had won the case. I was definitely excited because I want to be a prosecutor when I grow up and winning was clarification that I could do this as a career someday and be good at it.
